I’ve really become interested in the illustrative arts. Klimt pursued this ideal of ‘total art’ where the visual art transcends medium, dimensions, and norms of standard art. A lot of his work has a strong linear element, with a focus on line as something beyond an outline or a definition of space, but as an end goal itself.
Illustration generally has a negative connotation, but I really like the idea of line as art itself. I think this Mucha kind of highlights that theory.
This makes me miss Paris more. Can’t wait to get out of the States.
